Master Your Time, Transform Your Life.
I’m Carmel Shami, a holistic time management coach and mentor, and the founder of It’s About Time. I help overwhelmed professionals create harmony and honor their whole selves.
From growing up on a kibbutz in Israel, where I accompanied my nurse mother to visit the elderly, to facing my children’s health challenges and working as a social worker with bereaved families and elders. These experiences taught me profound lessons about the precious nature of time and the importance of living intentionally.
My experiences have also shaped my fundamental understanding of time’s universal truths, which don’t spare anyone—truths we must work with, not against, to live a fulfilling life. First, we will never complete all the tasks we desire or plan; we will have goals and tasks until the day we die, and it’s an illusion to think we can accomplish everything. As a wise elderly client once told me, “No man dies finished.” Second, there is always a cost— even when we feel we are managing everything, some areas of our lives will be compromised. Therefore, we must be conscious and mindful in making choices that align with our values.
As a social worker specializing in elder care for over a decade, I gained insights into how people reflect on their lives in their later years. I witnessed firsthand how some found peace and contentment while others struggled with regret over time not well spent. This experience and my subsequent work as a professional organizer and productivity consultant deepened my understanding that true time management is far more than just checking off tasks or adhering to a strict schedule. It’s about creating a life we can be proud of when we look back—one filled with purpose, connection, and meaningful achievements.
My holistic approach examines all facets of your life—work, relationships, health, personal growth, and inner well-being. Our relationship with time is deeply intertwined with our values, emotions, and life experiences. Through one-on-one coaching, workshops, and writing (including my children’s book “Stressy Jessy,” inspired by helping my son manage anxiety), I assist you in creating sustainable systems that nurture your whole self. Together, we identify your unique patterns and needs to reduce time-related anxiety, create balance, and build a purposeful life that brings satisfaction both now and in your later years.
When not helping others manage their time, I read, meditate, cook, write, or spend precious moments with my husband, three children, and dog, Elvis.
